Safeguarding Policy

Ways of Being is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all clients. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and the wellbeing and safety of those I work with is always my priority.

My Commitment

I am committed to:

  •  Creating a safe and professional therapeutic space

  •  Working within my professional code of ethics

  •  Respecting the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of every client

  •  Acting in the best interests of children, young people, and vulnerable adults

Working With Children and Vulnerable Adults

When working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults, I:

  •  Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times

  •  Ensure sessions take place in agreed, suitable settings

  •  Communicate clearly with parents/carers where appropriate

  •  Hold relevant training and, where required, an up-to-date DBS check

Confidentiality and Safeguarding

All sessions are confidential. However, confidentiality may be broken if:

  •  There is a concern that a client is at risk of harm or danger

  •  A client discloses information suggesting harm to themselves or others

  •  I am legally required to share information for any other reasons not listed here

In such cases, I will aim to discuss this with the client (or parent/carer) wherever possible before taking action.

Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

If I have concerns about a client’s safety or wellbeing, I may:

  •  Seek professional supervision

  •  Follow local safeguarding procedures

  •  Contact relevant safeguarding agencies or services

Any action taken will be in line with professional guidelines and legal responsibilities.

Online, telephone and Remote Sessions

For online sessions, I take steps to ensure privacy and safety, including:

  •  Using secure platforms and confidential spaces

  •  Encouraging clients to be in a private, safe space

  •  Ending a session if safety cannot be maintained

  •  contracting with clients and/or parents/carers around online, telephone or remote expectations and boundaries beforehand
